Ilmater, also known as the “Crying God” and the “Broken God”, is one of the most popular deities in the Bloodstone Lands. He is the God of Healing, Suffering and Endurance, worshipped by the suffering and the poor, as well as a number of orders of monks and paladins dedicated to him, notably the Disciples of St Sollars and the Order of the Golden Cup. He is believed to share the House of the Triad with his allies.
Although Ilmater is a long-established deity of the Faerunian pantheon with followers strung across the the continent, his church remains concentrated in Damara and Impiltur. Ilmater’s faith has little in the way of a hierarchy: priests work under the direction of a local temple but there is no control from higher up. As one of the Triad, Ilmater’s church works closely with those of Tyr and Torm. His priests work to alleviate the suffering of the poort and the rich, a role that has been very popular of late.
Ilmater is depicted as a short man who has been broken on the rack, standing on broken limbs and bearing the marks of torture. His symbol is crossed pair of hands, tied with red cord.
