Vaasa consists primarily of high moorlands, frozen into tundra for most of the year, but melting into boggy marshlands for the brief summer. Chill winds and frequent snowstorms come off the Great Glacier which marks the northern boundary of the land. Although home to a large population of orcs, most of the more civilised races find it too wet and chilly for comfort. Most of the dwarven and human population consists of miners and herders scattered along the mountains south of the River Beaumaris, in the area known as Sunderland. There is also a barbarian tribe of humans and half-orcs claiming the Ice Run, the broken ice valleys along the edge of the Great Glacier. They call themselves the Ice People and have little to do with other communities, for war or trade.
Vaasa is, quite literally, no man’s land. Its population consists of orcs, barbarians and miners, all of whom are more interested in survival than power. For ten years, Zhengyi dominated the orc population, along with the giants and goblins of the mountains, creating a kingdom of Vaasa, but with his death, the “nation” fell apart, its population once more concerned only with the struggle to survive.
